Main event: Van vs. Pantoja 2
Joshua Van beat Pantoja in the first round of their championship fight last December due to an unfortunate arm injury. Now, they’ll have a chance to settle things, with the flyweight belt on the line once more. Van has fought once since then, defending his belt by stopping Tatsuro Taira in a Fight of the Night bonus-winning performance. He’s now on an impressive 7-fight win streak. Overall, his MMA record stands at 17-2, with 10 wins and 1 loss in the UFC.
Pantoja was a dominant champion before facing Van, defending the UFC flyweight title 4 times, with wins over Brandon Moreno, Brandon Royval, Steve Erceg, Kai Asakura and Ka Kara-France. He was on an 8-fight win streak, which included 4 stoppages. Overall, Pantoja’s career record now stands at 30-6, with 14 wins and 4 losses in the UFC. He suffered a dislocated elbow in his first fight against Van, and this will be his first time back in the Octagon following a 9-month absence.
Pantoja is the slight favourite for Van vs. Pantoja 2, likely because the first fight was so inconclusive. However, the opening odds are a lot closer than they were for the first fight. Van has proved that he belongs at the top of the division, and it will be interesting to see whether Pantoja is the same following a potentially damaging injury.
Co-main event: Tsarukyan vs. Ruffy
Arman Tsarukyan has been one of the top contenders in the lightweight division for more than 2 years. However, after pulling out of a title fight against Islam Makhachev in 2025 at the last minute, he hasn’t been able to secure another title shot. Instead, he’s kept busy with grappling matches. Since that cancelled title fight, he’s had 15 grappling matches and just 1 MMA fight. Overall, his MMA record is 23-3, with 10 wins and 2 losses in the UFC. His most recent fight was a dominant submission win against Dan Hooker last November.
Mauricio Ruffy has impressed in his short UFC career, winning 5 fights and losing just 1. His fighting style has drawn comparisons with Conor McGregor, favouring a karate stance and throwing excellent counters. In his 6 UFC fights, only 1 has gone to a decision, and he most recently stopped Michael Chandler in the first round. However, Ruffy showed a weakness to grappling in his fight against Benoit Saint Denis, where he was submitted in round 2.
Unsurprisingly, Tsarukyan is a heavy betting favourite according to the opening betting odds. His grappling skills are among the best in the UFC, and he should make short work of Ruffy on the ground. However, Ruffy has knockout power, and if he can avoid those takedowns, he’ll pose a serious problem.
